LIZARD® EMA (Electro Magnetic Array) Crack Detection and Sizing Systems Becomes a Millennium Product.LIZARD® Electro Magnetic Array Crack Detection and Sizing systems has been granted Millennium Product status by the Design Council after UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair challenged businesses to show that Britain is the creative powerhouse of the world. The news was announced by the Prime Minister at the launch of the fifth tranche of the Design Council's Millennium Products initiative which took place on Tuesday 14th December 1999 at the Millennium Dome, London, England. LIZARD® Electro Magnetic Array Crack Detection and Sizing Systems, designed and built in Southsea, Hampshire by NEWT International Limited are already in use across the world in a variety of applications. This world leading non-destructive testing technology is also being developed for the rail industry with the firm support and encouragement of Railtrack amongst others. According to Mr Michael Bentley, Chairman of NEWT International Limited, the Company's latest innovation, the real-time LIZARD® Field Gradient Imaging Camera, "allows LIZARD® to enter the new Millennium with the capability of presenting television-style, simple pictures of any flaws that may be found in engineering structures, with the application possibilities being huge covering such areas as rails, tankers, oil rigs, fish farms etc." He continued, "Even though our LIZARD® technology is revolutionary and the most powerful tool of it's kind it is also environmentally friendly. It's use prevents the need for pre-treating surfaces that other non destructive testing (NDT) techniques require as it can "see" through paint, corrosion, oil and grime layers of 5mm - 10mm in depth. Amongst its other advantages over other NDT systems, an incorporated database software can also be used as a valuable and perfect archiving and asset management tool. An important example of this is within the rail industry where the whole inspection of many miles of track could be stored on CD-ROM."
